Mr. Charles was certainly respected and adored by many. He will be missed. We can confidently look to the future though, when our great God, the Giver of life, will bury death forever. What a blessing it will be when we can look forward to seeing him again and rightly ask: “Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting??—1 Corinthians 15:55. Please accept my condolensces. (Isaiah 25:8) He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it].

I was blessed to have known Charlie for almost 8 years. In that time, I found him to be bold, direct, and he never sugar coated the truth; yet, behind the gruff exterior, he was kind and gentle in his expression of compassion for the still sick and suffering alcoholic. I believe our loved ones never really die when they live in our hearts and our memories. Charlie was fond of saying “I believe in the intangible, and I get tangible results.? This is a quote I have often used, and will continue to use when the need arises, and when I do, I will remember Charlie. Dear Ann and family, your husband, your father, touched my soul and enriched my sobriety. Thank you for sharing him with me and all the other friends of Bill W. I pray the “Intangible? comforts you at this time of loss.
