Carol Lee Whitehurst, age 82 of Rising Sun, MD passed away on September 3, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to the late Margaret Virginia (Frankenberry) Zealor.

Carol was the matriarch of her family. Her family meant everything to her and she was the glue that held everyone together. Carol enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and caring for her home. She loved flowers and tending to her garden and found peace in watching the hummingbirds and butterflies. Carol’s happy place was the beach, and she made sure to visit each summer. She will be remembered by her gentle and outgoing personality, but also her strong will and feistiness.

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Leon Whitehurst; children: John Whitehurst, David Whitehurst and his wife, Dessislava, Amber Ritchie and her husband, James, and Honey Whitehurst; grandchildren: John Whitehurst, Jr., Ashley Whitehurst, Bailey Whitehurst, Amanda Ritchie, Emily Ritchie, and Thomas Whitehurst; and great grandchild, Melody Drasal.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery.
