Carol Ann Burkholder, age 82, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023 in Nashville, TN. She was born on December 25, 1940 in Pennsylvania to the late Paul Eugene Mills and Eunice (Higgins) Mills.

Carol enjoyed playing cards and attending BINGO games with her neighborhood friends. She took charge of chauffeuring her friends around anywhere they needed to go, earning her the nickname, “The Chief”.  Carol also loved to garden and plant flowers, with roses being her most favorite. Carol was considered an independent, loving, and caring soul by all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.

“Doing what you loved to do, living your life to the fullest and on your own accord. Age was truly just a number, as you continued to stay independent as any woman we have ever met.”

Carol is survived by her three children, Michael Burkholder (Lee Anne), Lisa Tice (Curtis), and Rick Burkholder (Susan) along with grandchildren, Jessie, Angie, Catie, Lizzy, John, Michael, Zoe, and Lea. Carol was also lucky enough to have two great-grandchildren, Poppy and Emelia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard and daughter Lori.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11am, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main St. Elkton, MD where family and friends may begin visiting at 10am. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Faithful Friends” and sent in care of the funeral home.
