Beverly I. Johnston, age 68, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Beverly was born on December 26, 1943 in Glenroy, PA to the late Lillard G. Hamm and Inez B. Crawford (Prewitt). She was the owner and operator of Johnston’s Cut-rate Liquors in Rising Sun, MD. Beverly was very active with fund raising for the Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation and greatly enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Artie D. Johnston of Rising Sun, MD; son, Arthur Chad Johnston and wife Wendy of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Terri Lynn Dixon and her husband Patrick of Rising Sun, MD; brothers, Paul R. Hamm of Bear, DE and Gene A. Hamm of Wilmington, DE and five grandchildren, Amanda Leigh and Patrick Dale Dixon, Ava Danielle Johnston, and Andrew James and Alexander Lee Hudson.

A Memorial service graveside, Celebrating Bev’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Johnston’s residence, Swiss Dale Farms, 56 Swiss Dale Farm Lane, Port Deposit, MD where friends and family are welcome beginning at 1:00 p.m.
