Betty Jane “Peggy” Lucas, 82, of Colora, MD, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Born February 16, 1933 in Marion, Virginia, Peggy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Poston Johnson.
Peggy was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a great cook and was known for her famous biscuits and gravy. She was a “veteran” of raising three children and numerous grandchildren, and was an outstanding wife and mother.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jack Lucas; daughter, Phyllis Farmer and her husband, Alan; two sons, Kenny Lucas and his wife, Debbie and Michael Ray Lucas and his wife, Stephanie; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Including her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother and 6 sisters.
A service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to “Make a Wish Foundation” or “Believe in Tomorrow Foundation” and sent c/o the funeral home.
