Baynard Alan Nickerson, age 85, of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1940 in Cecilton, MD to the late Samuel and Mildred (Sweetman) Nickerson.
Baynard was a lifelong lover of sports, especially baseball and basketball. He traveled throughout Cecil County, Maryland, playing basketball and took great pride in his skill on the court, often scoring 15–20 points every game. His dedication to sports was evident from a young age—at just 13 years old, Baynard hitchhiked from Cecilton to Galen so he could work and save enough money to buy his own baseball glove, a testament to his determination and work ethic.
Baynard followed in family tradition as a dedicated second-generation livestock dealer, a role he took great pride in and worked at with integrity and commitment. Above all else, Baynard cherished his family. He was devoted to his beloved wife, Rebecca, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage. She was his best friend and the love of his life, and their bond was the foundation of everything he did.
Baynard is survived by his children: April Williams (Doug), Kelli Eastburn (Daniel), Wayne Nickerson (Mary), and Crystal Nickerson; and grandchildren: Shanon, Taylor, Sheena, Marianna, Brianna, Elijah, and Emily. In addition to his parents, Baynard is predeceased in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Mildred (Davis) Nickerson; and brothers: Clyde Nickerson and Malin Nickerson.
Services for Baynard will be held privately.
