Barbara Ann Pierce (Bunty), age 61, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 9th, 2026. She was born on December 19, 1964 in Elkton, MD to the late Rodney Bunty, Sr., and Donna (Storm) Bunty.
A woman of simple pleasures, Barbara was happiest with dirt on her hands and wind in her face. She was a passionate gardener who could often be found nurturing her flower beds; while she loved all blooms, her favorites were always the peonies, which mirrored her own cheerful and resilient spirt.
One of her happy places was her camper in Rehoboth, DE. Situated right off the Rehoboth Bay, it severed as the back drop for countless summers filed with laughter and love. Whether she was enjoying the sand and surf or taking a motorcycle ride down the coast, Barbara lived a life with an adventurous heart.
Above all else, Barbara’s world revolved around her family. She loved family gatherings and found her greatest joy in her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the love that she shared with them will be felt for generations to come.
Barbara is survived by he loving husband, Craig Pierce; children: Carrie Lunsford and Randall Lunsford; step-children: Christine Pierce-Tang, and Michael Pierce; grandchildren: Kylin Lunsford, and Kinsley Lunsford; and Francesca (Frankie) Pierce-Tang; and siblings: Jacqueline Bunty, Anthony Bunty, Rodney Bunty Jr., and William Bunty. In addition to her father, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Bunty.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The visitation will be from 11AM – 12PM and the memorial service will begin at 12PM. A luncheon will follow. Please RSVP with the number of attendees to Craig Pierce: bcpierce1201@icloud.com by Friday, March 20, 2026.
