Bailey James Russell, age 75 of Chesapeake City, MD passed away on January 23, 2026. He was born on November 19, 1950 in Van Nuys, CA to the late Willard Reed Russell and Virginia Lee (Carter) Russell.
Bailey worked at Chrysler as a Millwright and then accepted a union position as the training coordinator for all of the skilled trades. He was an extremely talented carpenter and with the help of friends built his first home in his early 20’s. After retiring from Chrysler Bailey spent his time building furniture for his family and friends. Bailey was a 3rd degree black belt in the The Order of Isshinryu martial arts. He was a Sensei for 7 years at the Cecil Community College. Sensei Russell created many friendships and lifelong bonds with members of the O.I.
Bailey will be remembered by his family and friends as a quiet, yet mischievous man who was extremely smart, loving, and funny.
Bailey is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Russell; daughter, Bailey Russell; son, Christopher Russell; grandchildren: Harley and CJ Russell; sister, Gladys Brandes; and brother, Steven Russell.
A service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 12PM at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 15 E. Grn Street, Middletown, DE 19709. Burial will be privately handled in the spring at Old St. Anne’s Cemetery in Middletown, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “ACLU” (American Civil Liberties Union) and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
