William R. (Bill) Wilson, 81, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015. He was born on September 4, 1933 to the late Raymond Wilson and Mildred (Stirling) Wilson.
Bill was born and raised in Ridley Park, PA where he later joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for over forty years with Conrail Railroad where he retired in 1995. After retirement, Bill enjoyed spending his time working in the Athletic Department for a number of years at the University of Delaware and was an avid Blue Hen football fan. He was also a member of the Woodland String Band where he played the saxophone and participated in the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia, PA.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Anne Marie Wilson of Chesapeake City, MD, as well as his two beloved sons: Scott Alan Wilson of West Fenwick Island, DE, and Michael Stirling Wilson of Newark, DE.
Services for Bill will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11AM at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc. 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may arrive at 10AM for the visitation. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807.
