William “Bill” John Shriver

William “Bill” John Shriver of Elkton, MD, age 85, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 23, 1936 to the late Thomas Bradley Shriver III and Dorothy (Hogan) Shriver.

An avid golfer, Bill played often, even when traveling. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Bill was Life Master who prided himself in his ability to play duplicate Bridge. He was also a great chess player that daily challenged himself playing against the computer. Bill enjoyed reading and doing yard work as well as watching football (rooting for any local team) and college basketball. Bill found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, and recently started teaching his grandson Henry the joys of golf.

Bill is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, wife of 61 years, Anne Shriver; son Dr. W. Greg Shriver and his wife, Bonnie MacCulloch; grandson, Henry; brother, Terrance Shriver; sister, Bonnie Lidle and her husband, Michael; sister-in-law, Marion Bievenour; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Bradley Shriver IV; and two sisters: Margaret Shriver-Myers and Elizabeth Shriver-McGill.

A celebration of life Mass in Bill’s honor will be held at a later date.
