William “Bill” Grimes, Jr.

William “Bill” L. Grimes, Jr., age 79, of Warwick, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 2, 1943 in Wilmington, DE to the late William Lake Grimes, Sr. and Ann (Thompson) Grimes.

Bill graduated from P.S. DuPont class of 1963. He then went on to work for Chrysler for thirty years, where everyone called him “Reds”. After retiring, Bill kept busy working at Henlopen Bait and Tackle in Lewes, DE. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and was always sure to watch their games. Bill took great joy in fishing and playing poker. He had a carefree spirit, and nothing ever seemed to shake him. If you knew Bill, you know he loved to be a jokester. Bill was also known to many by “Uncle Bill”. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his two sons: Michael (Alexandra) Grimes and William “Billy” (Ellen) Grimes, III; nine grandchildren: Miranda Grimes, Abbie Hopkins, Cody Hopkins, Dollie, Christopher, Aniaha, Michael, Jr, Max, and Marcus; three great grandchildren: Ahri, Nathan, and Eva Marie; sister-in-law, Cindy Grimes; and former wife, Sandi Tesh.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Stephen “Jimmy” Grimes and brother, Robert W. Grimes.
