Wesley John Maahs, age 67, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018. Born November 28, 1950 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Irvin, Sr. and Arletta (Schaffer) Maahs.

Wesley was a talented finish carpenter with an eye for design. He was known to be an incorrigible flirt with every woman he met, a NASCAR super-fan, and a TV addict. He also enjoyed boating and gardening. He never turned down a meal and wings, cheese steaks and smoothies were among his favorites. Wes was quick to smile and laugh and never met a stranger he couldn’t charm. He was loved by all who met him, and will be missed so much by those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Wes is survived by his sisters: Dawn Maahs and Dale Maahs and her partner, Dick Burkhard; brothers: Dennis Maahs and his wife, Ruthanne, Chuck Maahs, Fred Maahs, Sr., and Thomas Maahs and his wife, Linda; several nieces and nephews; and a wonderful friend, Mac McCommons. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Arletta Maahs and brothers: Irvin Maahs, Jr. and Joey Maahs.

A celebration of Wes’ life will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 10 at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720 where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at the adjacent cemetery.
