Wanda E. Keller, 89, of Conowingo, MD, passed away at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation in Havre de Grace on March 7, 2012 after a brief illness.
Born in Liberty Grove, MD on August 26, 1922, Wanda was the daughter of the late Willard Lee and Esther Poist Bannister. She graduated from Tome School and attended Goldey Business School in Wilmington. She was a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground and retired as post commander secretary in August 1977 after 37 years of service. She was an active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, served at many of the church diners and sang in the church choir for 55 years. After retirement, Wanda and her husband spent their winters in Spring Hill FL. The family is grateful to the staff at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation and Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Earl P. Keller, a son E. Bruce Keller and his wife Patricia of Bear, DE; a granddaughter Kristin Styer and her husband Andrew of Palmyra, PA and a great granddaughter Aubrey Styer and a sister Betty Lou Weldy and her husband Harry of Rising Sun as well as numerous nieces and nephews who she was very fond of. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ernest Lee and George Vaughn Bannister and sister Ruth Janet Garvin.
A service honoring Wanda’s life will be held at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 1713 Liberty Grove Road, Colora, MD on Saturday March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call at the church beginning at 10:00. Burial will be in Brookview Cemetery.
