Verle “Vic” Victor Carter

April 29, 1932 - September 2, 2021

On Wednesday, September 2, 2021, V. Victor Carter, greatest husband and father ever, passed away at the age of 89.

Vic was born on April 29, 1932 in Pomeroy, Washington to the late Clyde and Augusta Carter. His family moved to St. Peter, MN, where he became an Eagle Scout and went on to earn a BA in physics at Gustavus Adolphus College and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He worked at E.I. DuPont for 37 years, including 10 years in construction and the remainder in control. At retirement in 1993, he completed his studies for a chartered financial consultant which supported his “frugal investor” studies initiated at the Newark Senior Center. Vic also organized several investment clubs, held several positions on the Board of Directors of the Louviers Federal Credit Union, served at the Christiana Hospital Building Subcommittee and provided financial counseling to many people. He enjoyed exercising so he could play better golf and travel so that he could see his family more often.

Vic is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Janet; 3 children: Jennifer, Jeff, and Melissa; 8 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed.

All services for Vic will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Newark Senior Center” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.

Dear Janet, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Janet, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember our days working together at Delaware Tech fondly. You and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Janet and family, I am so sorry to learn of Vic's passing. He was such a gentleman, a very wise man and a pleasure to know and serve with on the Louviers Board of Directors. He will be greatly missed, but I am so glad I was able to know him. My deepest sympathy. Fondly, Cheryl Chilcutt

Bubba was a person who touched so many lives with his family loyalty, charity, wisdom, humor and ,most of all, gratitude. We'll keep him close in our hearts by cherishing all the caring ways that he enveloped our lives and carrying forward the very traits that defined him. Knowing you and being a part of your family has been my honor.

What a great guy who had a great sense of humor. I first met Vic on one of his visits to the LaPorte site in 1970. We had a continuing working relationship over the years. He was a joy to be around and he took life’s ups and downs in stride. He will be missed.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

With great sadness we learned of Vic’s unexpected death. Our sincere sympathy to Janet and family on your loss. We shall remember his love of family, quiet humor, dedication to the service of others, and great friendship. We shall miss him.

A beautiful friendship the four of us ( Lynn, Dacie, Vic and Janet) had beginning in Orange TX in the 60's, A lot of laughs, good bridge hands, golf , and visiting in each others homes.
