Vanessa Jean Lewis of North East, MD, age 67, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born on May 3, 1954 in Alderson, WV to the late Virginia (Kincaid) Ballard.
Vanessa had a passion for working in the medical field and was fascinated by sciences and medicine. As a certified registered medical assistant for more than 40 years, Vanessa spent most of her career in family medicine. She loved to follow her patients’ growth throughout their life, witnessing many of her patients’ milestones. She also enjoyed helping guide new resident doctors as they began their medical career in her office. As a final gift to the field of science, Vanessa opted to donate her body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board, allowing new doctors to strengthen their knowledge in the field of anatomy. She loved to read, especially mystery novels, and spend the fall, her favorite season, in the mountains of West Virginia. Vanessa enjoyed exploring new places, with Bar Harbor, Maine being her favorite spot. She was known for her witty comments, especially on birthday cards, and her dark sense of humor. Vanessa had a life-long relationship with God, and attended Baptist services when her health would allow.
