Thomas Guhl, 69, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 3, 1955, in Wilmington, Delaware, Thomas was the cherished son of the late Leroy and Catherine (née Thornton) Guhl. He was the beloved husband of Dana (née Sutton) Guhl, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage and a life filled with love and devotion.
Tom was a proud graduate of Newark High School. He went on to have a distinguished 30-year career at the Chrysler Corporation, where he worked in various positions and ultimately retired as a Quality Inspector at the age of 50. His commitment to excellence and hard work were a testament to his character, and he was well respected by his colleagues throughout his career.
Beyond his professional life, Tom found great joy and peace in nature, particularly at the beach and spending time with the grandkids. He had a lifelong love of surf fishing, and his favorite spot was the 3Rs Fishing Beach, where he spent many hours enjoying the tranquility of the ocean. Tom had a calm and easygoing nature; he was a kind man, slow to anger and quick to show understanding. His gentle demeanor and genuine warmth left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Tom’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Dana Guhl; his daughters, Nikki Guhl and Rachel Guhl; and his four adored grandchildren: Isabel Truman, Savannah Compton, Travis Compton, and Brody Beverin. He is also survived by his siblings: James Guhl, Virginia Woods, David Guhl, and John Guhl, along with many extended family members and a wide circle of friends.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM at R. T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, Delaware. The family will begin receiving friends at 3:00 PM.
Tom’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his memory will continue to live on in the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
