Watch Video TributeTheodore Randolph Kennedy, age 74, of North East, MD passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 10, 2024. He was born on November 26, 1949, in New Castle, DE. Theodore was the son of the late Gerald Randolph Kennedy, and Jean Bye (Conard) Kennedy.
Theodore was a proud United States Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War as a combat engineer, where he helped build roads, and found the love of his life, Thu. After his military service, Theodore dedicated himself to a career as a structural iron worker for Aberdeen Proving Ground, until his retirement, in which he found a job with Squires Paving and that turned into a second family for over 30 years. He had a charismatic personality, and was a jokester at heart, making others smile. Theodore involved himself in the community, a testament to his generous spirit. He had many interests that brought him joy and fulfillment, from fishing for trout, to watching classic western movies. Theodore had a passion for cooking and baking and spread joy with the dishes he prepared. He was also a devoted father who took great pride in raising his children, coaching little league in North East, and helping build the Babe Ruth League fields. Theodore was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Theodore is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Thu Thi Kennedy; daughter, Lena Bakke (husband, William); son, Theodore “Teddy” Kennedy (wife, Nicola); grandchildren: Morgan, Chase, Connor, Kristlyn, Brandt, Pearce, Samantha, Courtney, Jessica, Shaylee, Michael, Hannah, and Faith; great-grandchild, Olivia, and 1 on the way; siblings: Kevin Kennedy, and Sandy Harding; and son-in-law, Duane Whitlock.
In addition to his parents, Theodore is preceded in death by his daughters: Kim Whitlock, and Susan Lawson; siblings: Beverly Sturgill, and Thomas Kennedy.
A celebration of Theodore’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church of the Grove, 1772 New London Rd, Landenberg, PA 19350, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Kemblesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Ronald McDonald House” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
