Suzanne Thompson 78, of Rising Sun, Md, passed away on May 8th, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Thompson; her sons, Chad Thompson (wife, Nicole), Brad Thompson (wife, Sheena), Brian Thompson (wife, Missi); her grandchildren, Paulina Thompson, Jessica Holmes, Justin Chadwick, Matthew Jenis, Jacob Jenis, Tristan Jenis; her niece, Beth Brock (Husband, Bobby); and two nephews, Danny Stubbs (wife, Kathy) and Stephen Stubbs (wife, Lynn); and many other extended family members. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Charlene Stubbs (husband, Richard); and her brother, Danny Mosher.

Suzanne was born in Baltimore on March 17, 1943 to the late Charles Mosher and Pauline Mosher (Swift), and she was raised by them in a waterfront community on the eastern shore of Maryland. After spending her formative years growing up amidst the 1950s culture, she graduated from Crisfield High School in 1961, and then went on to Delmarva Beauty Academy where she trained as a professional beautician. She was very proud of her accomplishments in beauty school and she won several awards while mastering the techniques of the hairstyles of the day. Then, in 1964, she ultimately settled on a career as a Legal Secretary at Young, Conoway, Stargott, and Taylor in Wilmington, DE, where she proudly mastered the lost art of shorthand and nurtured her love of all things legal. Many years later, after taking time away from her career to raise her three young children, she returned to work as an Executive Secretary for Cecil County Social Services and Cecil County Sheriff’s Department, and as a Bookkeeper for the Cecil Country Chamber of Commerce, where she worked up until her retirement.

Suzanne (known also as Mom, Sue, GiGi, Mom Mom, Aunt, and as a sister, a daughter, or simply as, a friend) was someone who loved her family more than anything. She took an avid interest in their lives and in their happiness. She cherished all her memories and enjoyed reminiscing on times past, and the joy that was derived from those memories was shared by all.

Suzanne relished spending quality time with her husband, children, and grandchildren whenever possible. She was completely interested in sharing in their lives and cheering them on, while always being warm, loving, and supportive. She was especially supportive of her boys, where she even joined them in their interest in the Blazers by becoming president of that organization for a period of time, as she continued to march alongside all three of her sons in many parades.

Since her marriage to her husband, Ron, in 1968, Suzanne would enjoy their many vacations to the beach with the kids and to the Casinos by themselves. She loved her home that her and Ron built out on the Ridge where they raised the boys, and she was particularly proud of the custom cabinetry that her father, a carpenter by trade, designed and made for their home.

Suzanne also loved her long, late-night “talks” with her Granddaughter, Paulina, and playing her “Baby Grand” piano with her, which was a common interest that they shared.

She loved a good story and good laugh. She enjoyed knitting special gifts for those she cared about, sometimes taking up to a year to complete a project because it was so large.

She was an avid reader, and appreciated books from Mary Higgins Clark, Stephen King, Robin Cook, Catherine Coulter, and James Patterson, to name a few. She was intrigued by mysteries.

Suzanne also had an adoration for animals. She loved to spend time watching wild birds at the bird feeders on her deck. And she always showed special connections with each and every dog that became part of her family (Nick, Duke, Lassie, Snow, Whiskers, Scamper, Brandy, Dude, Bullet, Scruffy, Lightning, Sebastian, Hoss, Blitz, Jake, Miss Whiskers, and Pepper).

She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her or was loved by her.

A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora, Md.

If possible, the family would ask that instead of flowers, live plants would be appreciated, as they can continue to live and be nurtured by Ron in Suzanne’s memory.
