A true renaissance man, Stephen Joseph Thachik passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022. He was an avid kayaker of the Maryland waterways, a dutiful revenue agent for the Treasury Department, and family photographer of all of life’s important events. He was the go-to-handyman for family, friends, and neighbors. He was a daily crossword puzzle connoisseur and the favorite of all the family dogs. He was everything to his daughters- quite literally- coach, mechanic, personal math teacher, and superhero in disguise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Susanna Thachik, of his hometown of Clymer, PA. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Donna Shubra Thachik, married for 49 years and together for 55. His biggest fans were his three daughters: Sasha (husband, Dave Huber and granddaughter, Vanessa); Kusha (husband, Jerry Jernegan), and Stefani (husband, Stephen Southall, and granddaughter, Teagan). He is also survived by his favorite (and only) sister, Sandee and her husband, Robert Lawer.
Stephen graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting and from Widener University with a Master of Science in Taxation. For 38 years he served as a revenue agent and mentor for new hires. His adventures began in the small town of Clymer, Pennsylvania and continued as a resident of Elkton, Maryland for over 46 years. His sense of humor, extensive knowledge, and ability to solve any problem will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Blood Bank of Delmarva: https://www.delmarvablood.org/.
