Stanley Eugene Corbett, Sr., age, 91, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born on March 28, 1933, in Wilmington, DE to the late Peter Corbett and Helen L. (Koprowski) Corbett.
Stanley was a graduate of Wilmington High School and the University of Maryland. He was an accomplished aerospace engineer, who began his career in the late 1950s at Martin Marietta, continuing through long periods of distinguished service with Thiokol and General Electric, and contributing to the aerospace industry throughout his career with his expertise. Beyond his professional achievements, Stanley had an enduring love for old Western movies, often reminiscing about classic films. A true sports enthusiast, Stanley was an avid football fan, proudly cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles with unwavering loyalty. In his leisure time, Stanley enjoyed building model airplanes, a hobby that brought him much joy.
To all who knew him, Stanley was not just an engineer or a fan of old movies and football; he was a father, grandfather, friend, and a loving presence. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him well.
Stanley is survived by his sons: Stanley Corbett, Jr., and Michael Corbett (Michelle); daughter Mary Kay McDonald (John); grandchildren: Hannah Corbett, Samantha Corbett, Justin McDonald and Ben McDonald.
Services for Stanley will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to “Faithful Friends Animal Society” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
