Sandra Eileen Scott, age 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was born in Dunmore, WV on July 22, 1946 to the late Ford Bash and Dorothy (Sprouse) Christensen.
Sandra graduated from Bel Air High School and then went on to attend Harford Community College, being the first female to get an Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics. She worked for Cecil County Health Department retiring as a Disease Control Specialist. Sandra was always looking for a bargain, you could often find her at thrift stores. She was an avid decoy collector and took great joy in baking cookies for the Delaware State Police Troops, who knew her as “The Cookie Lady”. Sandra will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Belinda Ritter of Chesapeake City, MD; three grandchildren: Victoria Ritter of Elkton, MD, Xavier Ferguson of Aurora, CO; and Cameron Ferguson of Chesapeake City, MD; three great-grandchildren: Makye Ritter, Sean Lindsay, and Josiah Lindsay; brother, Richard “Ricky” Bash of Churchville, MD; sister, Linda Herzberg of Ocean City, MD.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Sewell Scott; and two sisters: Marilyn Bash and Beverly Gordon.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, June 12, 2023 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD where family and friends may begin visiting at 12:00PM. Burial will be held private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to, “Delaware State Police Troops” or “Belinda Ritter” and send in care of the funeral home. I met Sandy when I was 11 years old whilst visiting my uncle who had just moved over to America. I will always remember how warm and welcoming she was and how delicious her home made sweet treats were too! Even tho I am yet to return to America- I have been kept up to date with Sandy and her love of the British royal family through my Nan who become her penpal for over 10 years ❤️
