Ronald “Ron” “Ronnie” Edward Wilson of Newark, DE, age 74, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born in West Grove, PA on June 26, 1946 to the late Edward K. Wilson, Jr. and Margaret (Cregger) Wilson.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. A hard worker, he was employed at Hewlett Packard, which later became Agilent Technologies, for over 40 years. During his career, Ron also worked multiple side jobs until he retired in 2017, at the age of 70. Throughout his life, Ron was involved in local baseball, having played in his youth and later acting as an umpire for both youth and adult teams in Southern Chester County Pennsylvania. An avid fan of Philadelphia sports, he enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers at any opportunity. Ron found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his daughter: Beth Walls and her husband, Stephen; granddaughter, Kaname Walls; brother, Edward K. Wilson, III and his wife, Cathy; sister, Cindy Snyder and her husband, Rick; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marliss Wilson.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. Burial will be held privately.
