Romayne Hobson McCormick, age 81 passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
She was born on July 4, 1931 to the late Pusey and Mary McCormick. A lifelong resident of Hockessin, DE, Romayne graduated from Conrad High School in 1949. Following her graduation from Beacom College she began a 31 year career at Hercules Incorporated until retirement in 1981. She was the organist at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Newark for many years where she was a member until 1972. At that time she joined Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church in Wilmington where she became a substitute organist and a loyal choir member. Romayne also taught an adult Sunday school class until her death and devoted many years of service as chairman of the flower committee at P.M. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice B. Hammell, with whom she lived in the farmhouse where she was born. Romayne is survived by her niece, Jane McAlpine and her husband, Robert of Newark.
Services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Peninsula-McCabe UM Church, 2200 Baynard Boulevard, Wilmington, DE at 1 pm where family and friends may visit one hour prior.
Interment will follow at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Newark.
