Robert P. Sheets Sr.

February 1, 1936 - September 2, 2016

Robert P. Sheets, Sr., 80, of Rising Sun, MD, formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away peacefully Friday, September 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 1, 1936 in Peach Bottom, PA, Robert was the son of the late William James Sheets, Sr. and Bertha Annabel (Caldwell) Sheets. He served his country proudly in the USMC and the US Army. Robert was a career carpenter and enjoyed building and making home improvements. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the National North American Fishing Club and the Bass Fishing Club. His most cherished time was that spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Victoria Sheets and Karen Sheets; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sheets-Banks; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother James Sheets, Sr.; sister; Lucille Adams; three step-daughters whom he helped raise, Lydia Ramponi, Marie Slagle, Sonja Goodwin; and many beloved extended family.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley J. Sheets; son, Robert P. Sheets, Jr.; two daughters, Deborah Wallace and Brenda Churchill; and four siblings.

Memorial Services will be held at 6 PM, September 16, 2016 at The Church of the Nazarene, 2626 Jacob Tome Highway Colora MD 21917. Reception to follow at the home of Angela and Butch Heath located at 83 Foxfire Dr Port Deposit MD. 21904

To Karen, So sorry for your Loss

Vickie, Karen and all the family, I wish I could reach across the miles and give you a hug. I am so sorry for your loss and you having to say goodbye for now. Your dad was a special person, he will live on in all our memories.He had a great sense of humor, I remember Ron and him keeping us laughing. I am so glad you were able to get him back to family, Loved the picture of him with Jim and Lucille. He looked so happy. May all of you find comfort now and in the days ahead. Love you, Aunt Liz

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know he will be greatly missed by many. I had the pleasure of getting to know Robert for a short time while he lived in Mountain City. Your family is in my prayers during this very difficult time.

Uncle Rob, you will be very missed by many people. You were known for your sense of humor and your kindness. One of my favorite memories of you- is you actually had us (we were kids, ok) talking to the car on our way home. I think we had been to your brother's house. The car was on it's last leg- it's was sputtin, (is that a word?), it didn't seem like we were gonna make it home. But, you said if we talked nice to it, it would get us there and it did!!

Dear Karen and Vicky: I am only going to say this, Seeing your commitment and extreme love for your father, the faithfulness toward him, gave my heart a much needed uplifting. So many adult children have absolutely no time for their parents. I am blessed to know you both.

It's with great sorry and sincere appreciation I leave this message. Bob was a kind and loving man , a man to whom I owe a great deal. He helped me know what it was like to have a Dad when I was a child. He treated me and my 3 sisters as we were his own. He provided for us for many years and enable me to become the woman I am today. It's with much thanks I say now to Vicki and Karen "thanks for sharing your Dad with us" we loved him and are going to miss him very much. Prayers for peace and strength to go thur what lies ahead .
