Robert Lee Bryson, 81, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was the son of the late James William Bryson and Katherine Opal Bryson.
Born and raised in Hinton, West Virginia, Robert (nickname Tadpole) enjoyed fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors. Growing up on the New River in Hinton, Tad loved running around exploring the countryside with his brothers. Tad joined the Navy in July 1958. He served six years. He was stationed in the Great Lakes, Illinois; Norfolk Virginia; Alaska, Philippines, and Hawaii. He spent the last six months of his service on the USS Coral Sea. He married the love of his life Burdie Bryson on November 16, 1962, and then moved to Elkton, Maryland. Tad worked for General Cable from 1962 to 1964. He worked for the Chrysler Corporation from 1964 until he retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. Tad enjoyed going back to Hinton every year with his wife for family reunions. He loved working around his home and spending time with his grandkids. Tad was always ready to help his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren fixing anything that needed repaired. He will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Burdie L. Bryson; daughters: Debbie Beougher (Mark) of Elkton, MD; Cathy Kersteter (Scott) of Newark, DE; grandchildren: Matthew, Meghan, Madeline and Paige Beougher; Bryce and Brooke Kersteter; siblings: Harry Bryson (Sharon) of Douglasville, GA and Carol Anderson (Ron) of Smyrna, DE.
Robert was preceded in death by siblings: Corrine Smith (John) Hinton, WVA; Betty Westfall (Jimmy) Hurricane, WVA; J. W. Bryson, Jr. (Clara) Hilldale, WV; Norma Jean Richmond Elkton, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11 am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow the 11 am service at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park.
