Rima Ellis, 83, of Newark, DE, passed away December 28, 2011 at Christiana Hospital.
Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Rima was the daughter of the late Wolf and Anna Nast Ismond. She spent her first 14 years in China where her parents were missionaries.. Later, she received her GED by attending evening classes. After that she attended Walla Walla (WA) College where she began studying business and eventually received her degree in nursing and then received her Masters in Nursing from Washington Missionary College in Silver Spring, MD. She and her husband moved to Delaware following her marriage in 1954. In 1964, they purchased Newark Manor Nursing Home and operated that for the next 24 years. She was a member of West Wilmington Seventh Day Adventist Church and loved her work and was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Russell Ellis; a son Russell Ellis, Jr. and his wife Bona of Millersville, MD; grandchildren Christopher and Nicholas; and two sisters, Naomi Borchers and Janet Yaron. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Ismond.
A private family graveside committal service will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at a later date at West Wilmington Seventh Day Adventist Church.
