Richard B. Holman, age 87, of Rising Sun, MD passed away November 29, 2018. He was born June 22, 1931 to the late Stanley Bruce Holman and Jenny Alice Holman (Miller).
Richard grew up on a farm with his family, which is where he started to work full-time with his father. He enjoyed his job taking care of the family business and loved to drive the tractor. Richard also worked on the assembly line at the Chrysler automobile plant for over 28 years. He was considered to be the “Jack of all trades.” Richard especially loved to talk and could spend hours with family and friends and good conversation. He loved to eat and cook. Richard and his wife, Viola, traveled all over the nation and would take their time on the drive to anywhere, especially Niagara Falls, Texas, and North Carolina to visit family.
Richard is survived by his wife of 35 years, Viola Holman; daughter, Donna Luoto and her husband Danny of Conowingo, MD; son, Allen Holman of North Carolina; daughter, Cheryl Harris of the Eastern Shore; son, Kevin Holman of Kentucky; step-daughter, Ann Raymond and her husband Bruce of North East, MD; Mae Luffman and her husband Jerry of East Bend, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Riley Holman of Mexico; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his son, Mark Holman.
A celebration of Richard B. Holman’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Ebenezer Methodist Church, 1072 Ebenezer Church Rd, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will continue, following the service, at Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
