Rhoda C. Vernon, age 84, of Berlin, MD, passed away on February 12, 2012 at Peninsula General Hospital. She was born on September 3, 1927 in Damascus, VA to the late Blaine and Elizabeth (McAllister) Carter.
Rhoda worked at RCA for 17 years in Lancaster, PA. She then worked for Maryland Toll Collection on I-95 and Rt. 40 (Hatem Bridge), where she retired as a toll sergeant in 1989. She loved the beach and later moved to Fenwick Island, DE, where she worked in various restaurants.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Vernon; and brother, Delmar Carter.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Vernon and his wife, Donna of Upper Marlboro, MD; and nieces, Melissa Riley of Quarryville, PA and Lynn Cundiff of New Castle, DE.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on February 18, 2012 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD, where friends and family may call one hour prior.
