Phyllis Jane Sexton

April 3, 1943 - July 13, 2021

Phyllis Jane Sexton, age 78, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was born on April 3, 1943 in Mountain City, TN to the late Henry Cress and Marvorene (Gentry) Cress.

 

Phyllis took great joy in hosting yard sales or going to them. She was able to put puzzles together in one day and loved crocheting and sewing. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

 

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Wilmer Sexton; daughter, Donna Sexton and her husband, Ben; eight grandchildren: Kristy Cranford, Pamela Kirk, Andrew Sexton, Bradley Sexton, Katie Johnson, Sean Sexton, Michael Sexton, and Heather Sexton; twelve great-grandchildren; cousin, Norma Gilley and her husband, Gerald; nieces, Pammy and Tammy Cress; nephew, Timmy Cress; and other many cousins.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Cress.

 

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

I will miss Phyllis. We did a lot of different things together. She used to come every year and help decorate the Christmas tree and then we would have dinner together. She was always invited to family functions at my house. It will be hard to pass by her home and know that she is not there. Praying many prayers for peace and comfort to her family in knowing that she is in a much better place now... At her new home in the arms of Jesus.
