Philip F. Wittmeyer, age 60, of Wilmington, DE passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at his home. Born in March of 1957, Phil was the son of the late Richard G. Wittmeyer, Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Ferschke) Wittmeyer.
Phil was a 1975 graduate of Concord High School in Wilmington, DE. For over 35 years, he worked for the Brooks Armored Car company, where he most recently served as supervisor. Phil enjoyed watching football and was a “die-hard” Eagles fan. He was a lover of animals, big or small. He was an easy-going, funny guy who loved making people smile and laugh. Most importantly, Phil cherished his family, especially his children.
Phil is survived by his son, Michael Wittmeyer and his wife, Amanda; daughter, Nicole Wittmeyer; three grandchildren: Gabriel Wittmeyer, Colin McLaughlin and Declan McLaughlin; brother, Richard Wittmeyer, Jr. and his wife, Maria Wittmeyer; three sisters: Sarah Curry, Maureen “Kay” Gartner and her husband, J. Carlton Gartner, MD and Rebecca “Becky” Vye and her husband, H. Kemp Vye; and former wife and friend, Jaime (Coburn) Wittmeyer.
A visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 at R. T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Burial will follow the visitation at Silverbrook Cemetery. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.
