Patricia Sutton Breza, 78, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2016. Born on June 22nd, 1938 in Far Rockaway, NY. She was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Gladys (Warren) Sutton, moving to Cecil County at 14 years of age, where they opened the family owned & operated business, The Sutton Motel.
Patricia was an Elkton High School graduate, Class of 1956. She then pursued her academic studies at Carnegie Melon University, and also attended the University of Maryland, studying Art, Design, & Architecture. In 1959, Patricia married Charles H. Breza, Sr. owner of “Breza Communications,” (Chesapeake City and Newark, DE,) and raised her family.
Once her four children were school-aged, she went back to college and became a graduate of the University of Delaware with a B. S. Degree in Elementary Education, 1974. She went on to teach in the Newark and Cecil areas. Patricia and the family moved to Carrollton, VA in 1978, following Charles’ new career, post–college grad, with the U.S. Government as an Electrical Engineer.
Patricia embraced art & fashion design ever since. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress. She enjoyed the history of the Tidewater area, especially Colonial Williamsburg. She valued the arts & education, but most importantly, she enjoyed her family. She later returned to Elkton, MD in 1981…and later Co-owned Debbie’s Dance Wear. She was a member of the Newark Homemaker’s Club in Newark, De in the early 70’s, where she was also a former Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Patricia is survived by two sons and two daughters: Chuck Breza of Elkton, MD, and Jeff Breza and his wife, Helene, of Chesapeake City, MD; two daughters: Debbie Breza Starr and her husband, Sam, of Newark, DE, and Michele B. Moon and her husband, Steve, of Elkton, MD; five grandchildren: Jaclyn Breza, Jeff Breza, Jr., Caitlin Moon, Megan Breza, and Henry Breza; two great-grandchildren: Josh Breza and Jeffrey Breza III; and extended friends & family throughout Cecil County, and Canada. In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles H. Breza, Sr., and her infant grandson, Adam Steven Moon.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 26th, 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 455 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Burial will follow the service at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD.
