Born on April 18, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward Rush and Constance Martin (Smith), and stepdaughter of Stanley Martin.
Patricia worked for over 30 years at American Express in New York. When she moved to Delaware she volunteered at a number of organizations. She treasured time with her family and especially loved traveling with her grandchildren. Patricia never met a stranger. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others drew people to her wherever she went. She had a remarkable ability to turn casual encounters into lasting friendships, often leaving those she met with a smile and a sense of being truly seen and valued. Her gift for conversation was well known whether sharing stories of her children and grandkids, offering encouragement, or simply listening, Patricia had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
In quieter moments, she found joy in the pages of her favorite books. Reading was not only a pastime but a source of comfort and adventure, allowing her to explore new worlds and ideas. Her love of stories reflected the same curiosity and openness she brought to life, always seeking connection and meaning in every experience.
She is survived by her children: Edward Hagan and his partner Connie, Stephen Hagan and his wife Gladys, and Christopher Hagan; grandchildren: Roxanne, Zachary, Allison, Kira, and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Adrianna; brothers: Donald Martin, Richard Martin, and Douglas Martin; and sister-in-law, Nellie Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela Moore.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2:30 PM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM.
