Nestor James Sullivan, age 70 passed away on April 30th, 2025, in Lewes DE. Born on May 11th, 1954, in Wilmington, DE, Jimmy’s life was characterized by resilience, humor, and love for his family.
He was a proud graduate of Newark High School’s class of 1972 and played both soccer and golf during his high school years. Jimmy attended Del Tech and was accepted to the U of D before his accident.
Another interest Jimmy enjoyed was mechanics. This led to many evenings spent with his dad restoring a triumphant 3, an endeavor made possible by the earnings from his morning paper route.
At the age of 21 Jimmy had an accident that led him to become a long-term resident of Harbor Healthcare. Despite the challenges he faced Jimmy remained a beacon of joy and laughter. He quickly became a beloved figure among staff and residents alike known for keeping everyone in stitches with this quick wit and infectious spirit. In many ways Harbor Healthcare became an extension of his family a place where he was deeply loved and where he left an indelible mark.
Jimmy had a zest for life that never waned. He loved playing cards especially 21 and solitaire and could often be heard belting out rock music or gospel tunes with gusto. A devoted fan of golf and all things Philadelphia Eagles Jimmy followed sports passionately and his proudest moment came when he received recognition as the Delaware junior state champion a title he defended fiercely whenever anyone dared challenge his claim to being number one.
Jimmy is survived by his two sisters Debbie Smith of Bivalve, Maryland and Patricia Krauss of Woodstock, VT, 7 nieces and nephews Daniel, Kelly, CR, Megan, Katie, Jenna, and Tara as well as 10 great nieces and nephews who brought joy into his life
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Joan G Sullivan and Nestor James Sullivan Jimmy’s legacy lives on in in every smile he inspired in every heart he touched. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at the Veteran’s cemetery in bear DE at a later date.
