Myrtle L. Holbrook, 91, of Colora, MD, passed away June 22, 2012 at Harford Memorial Hospital.
Born in Apple Grove, NC on July 12, 1920, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Emma Hurley May. She was a homemaker who also worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground hauling ammunition during World War II and from 1954-69, owned and managed the Rock Springs General Store. Myrtle was a long time member of Conowingo Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Lee Holbrook and his wife Elaine of Colora, MD; daughter in law Mary Jane Rogers of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Gary Holbrook and his wife Tamara of Rising Sun, Lynn Logue and her husband Brian of Colora, MD, Luke Holbrook of South Carolina and Julie Bradley and her husband Steve of South Carolina;; six great grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Tedd, Evan, Nathaniel and Haley; and a great great grandchild, Aubrey. She also leaves behind four sisters, Edith Childress, Nancy Whitson, Beulah Rodefer and Margaret Connor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Spurgeon Holbrook; a son, Ted Holbrook and a daughter Barbara Holbrook; three brothers and two sisters.
A service honoring her Life will be held at Conowingo Baptist Church on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Monday June 25 from 6 – 8 pm or one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Conowingo Baptist Church Cemetery.
