Carmela Snyder Quig – Age 94, of Newark, DE, peacefully passed away on July 21st, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 26th, 1927 in Ocean City, NJ, daughter of the late George Snyder and Ernestine Estevez Snyder.
Carmela was the Matriarch of her family. She married the love of her life and late husband, Joseph B. Quig Jr., whom she was married to for 71 years, a marriage that was the epitome of true love. They started a family, raising 5 children together. Carmela and Joseph’s love story created a wonderful legacy for their family.
Carmela was a devout Catholic and her faith was an essential part of her life. She was a woman of strength and beauty and she had a heart full of love. Carmela had a classy sense of style and she was a gifted homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining her family. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards, golfing, boating, and beach vacations, both in DE and at their home in Florida. Carmela’s husband Joseph retired at age 50 granting them the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful and long retirement together.
Carmela’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her 5 children; Joseph B. Quig III (Linda), Sandra S. Ritter (Greg), Michael G. Quig Sr. (Tammy), Tina L. Morgan (Philip), Peter K. Quig (Boeing), 12 grandchildren; Marie, Justin, Matthew, Meredith, Michael Jr., Cody, Luke, Ashley, Jennifer, Alexandra, Emily, Victoria, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Carmela touched many lives and will always be remembered for her love and kindness. She was a remarkable woman, and her beautiful soul will stay with us forever.
