Mildred Harriet McLellan age 78 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023. She was born on February 15, 1945, in Wilmington, DE to the late Lester D. Thompson Sr., and Elizabeth Ann (Ray) Thompson.

Mildred was an amazing, wonderful woman who enjoyed crocheting and loved playing bingo. She had a great passion for baking and making cakes. Mildred cared deeply about her family and greatly loved all her children. She was a kind and thoughtful person who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Eggleston; sons: Joel Bailey Eggleston, IV, and Lawrence John Eggleston (Laurie); grandchildren: Justin Kyle Eggleston, Issac Lawrence Eggleston, Elljah Phillip Eggleston, and Olivia Nicole Eggleston; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Lester D. Thompson, Jr.

A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at 5 pm on Friday, June 16, 2023, at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE where family and friends may begin visiting at 4 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Faithful Friends Animal Society” in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
