Mildred F. (Burd) Gamble, 95, of Newark, DE, passed away January 5, 2016 at Seasons Hospice, Christiana.
Born in Wilmington on February 12, 1920, Mildred was the daughter of the late George and Minnie Cowell Burd. She was a homemaker and also worked in the housekeeping department of the University of Delaware for 12 years. Mildred will be remembered as a woman devoted to her family.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Wesley D. Gamble and his wife Carolyn of Townsend, DE, and Lesley Mark Gamble and his wife Beverly of Smyrna; daughters Mary R. Andrick and husband Doug of Arizona, and Sylvia J. Sheffler and husband Marc of Bear, DE; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, a son, Leslie Grant Gamble Jr., 5 brothers and 9 sisters.
Services honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Tuesday January 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 12 noon. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity in Mildred’s name. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.
