Milan Slijepcevic was an incredible human being. Anyone who knew him was immediately struck by his immense heart, childlike spirit, and boisterous laugh. He always laughed – no matter how silly the joke was. His laughter filled the spaces of every room, and it came from the heart. He was genuine to the core of his being, and honest to a fault. You always knew what you were getting with him, because he valued truth, integrity, and loyalty. He was a man of impeccable strength and values. He wore them like an armor.
Milan Slijepcevic came to the United States with his young family to work for a better life; and through his dedication to that dream, he created bounties for his sweet wife and loving children. Out of nothing, he created more than just something – he created a foundation on which his family will continue to build his legacy. He loved his job as an electrician with Delmarva Power, and always said that he was incredibly happy to do what he loved for a living. Before he passed, he was employed with Delmarva Power for 14 years. In those years, he committed to his job with a fervent passion, working through some of the worst storms and troubles to serve his community.
He loved his home and dedicated himself to projects and builds, always learning something new as he worked. He had a thirst for knowledge and an innovative approach to solving problems. He always looked at everything from a different lens. It inspired those around him. More than anything, he loved adventure, travel, and stepping to the ledges of cliffs and overhangs against his wife’s wishes. He used to say that heights always made him feel so alive and filled his heart with awe; and he carried this into his work, climbing poles, walking on roofs, taking down trees for people in his neighborhood when storms rolled in. He loved to help people and anyone in need – be it human or animal. It was in his bones to reach out, be of service, and hold space for others. His compassion was infinite, his love immeasurable.
Milan Slijepcevic is survived by his wife, Bozica Slijepcevic, and their two children, Aleksandra and Sasa Slijepcevic. He is also survived by his parents, Ana and Pavle Slijepcevic; as well as his brother Stojan Slijepcevic, and sister Milka Slijepcevic; along with countless family members near and far. His passing has left a deep void in his community and family that will never be filled; but his space at the table will always remain open.
It has been a true life’s honor to know and love Milan Slijepcevic. May it so continue on the other side.
