Michael James Williams, age 65, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Elsmere, DE. He was born October 15, 1949 in Roaring Springs, PA to the late James and Goldie Williams.
Upon finishing high school, Mike served his country in Vietnam in the Marine Corps, where he earned a Purple Heart. After his discharge, he worked in the hospitality industry in Florida and Delaware in various capacities including chef. Mike would often take day trips with his friends and enjoyed going to Delaware Park. His greatest joy however was being “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren, loving and spoiling them as any grandfather could.
He is survived by his wife Rene of Newark, DE; daughter Eva Potter and her companion Jeffrey Jennings of Quarryville, PA; four grandchildren Brandon Potter, Justin Potter, Chloe Potter, and Nolan Richter; a stepson Brandon Potter, Sr., and daughter-in-law Julie Thompson.
A service will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit one hour prior beginning at 6 PM. Burial to be held privately. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.
