Michael “Mickey” Randvere, age 73, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 29, 2016 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. He was born May 1, 1943 in Berlin, Germany, to Frederick and the late Crystal Grunwald Randvere.
He was a longtime resident of Newark, DE and Manville NJ. In the late 1970s, he graduated Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry. He went on to pursue a successful career in Analytical Chemistry at: Church & Dwight, Hercules Corporation, Basel, Himont Plastics and DuPont.
Early in his life he emigrated with his family from Germany to South America, then to the United States. As a young man he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Travis AFB and in Salinas, CA. He later moved to New Jersey where met his bride-to-be, Gladys. Michael wed Gladys on October 8, 1983 in Manville, NJ.
Michael was a warm, outgoing, generous and gregarious man. He befriended all he met. He was always quick with a joke or word of encouragement. He was well versed in classical literature and possessed keen intellectual depth and breadth. As a master of conversation he would hold entertaining discourse, in three languages, about: science, chess, classic cinema, symphony, world history, wine, fine cuisine, politics, and other engaging topics.
Always devoted and caring, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In his final days, he was surrounded by those he cherished most; his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his wife Gladys Cecilia (Ceci) Randvere and his three loving children. He is also survived by his father Fredrik Randvere, brother, Thomas Randvere and is predeceased by his mother, Crystal Randvere. He will be missed by all those who loved him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 3, 2016, at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
