Michael J. Carozza, age 82, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1944, in Yonkers, NY, to the late James Carozza, Sr. and Martha (Kolachik) Carozza.
Michael passed away leaving behind a life marked by dedication, curiosity, and quiet joy. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Lou, with whom he shared a deep love of travel and adventure. Together, they explored the world, creating cherished memories across countless destinations, with a special fondness for the beauty, history, and culture of Europe.
Michael built a successful career as a director in environmental insurance, where he was respected for his professionalism and steady leadership. Following his retirement, he chose to remain active and connected to his community. He found fulfillment in the simple, meaningful routines of everyday life—working as a school bus driver in Millsboro, Delaware, where he became a familiar and friendly presence to the children he transported, and caring for the grounds at Cripple Creek Golf Course, where his work reflected his strong work ethic and pride.
Michael will be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and his willingness to stay engaged with the world around him. His life was one of purpose, partnership, and appreciation for both the grand and the ordinary moments.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Carozza; children, Kenneth Carozza and Deborah Williams; nieces: Cheryl Penn, Jill Carozza, Suzie Zimmerman, Michele Nelson, Laura Galajda, and nephew, David Galajda; brother-in-law, Paul Galajda, and his wife Pat Galajda. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, James Carozza, Jr., his wife Joy Carozza, sister-in-law, Barbara La Sota and her husband Denis La Sota.
A mass will be held on Friday May 1st 2026, 11:00am at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in Ocean City MD.
