Mary “Mary Lou” Louise Walls of Newark, DE, age 85, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021. Mary Lou was born on December 4, 1935 in Wilmington, DE to the late Maurice L. Fox and Mary K. (Kowalski) Fox.

Mary Lou graduated Ursuline Academy in 1953 and later the University of Maryland in 1958. She was a Moose Lodge 1578 of New Castle member, member of Wednesday Morning Housewife League and was also a treasurer and secretary of her bowling league. Mary Lou was a collector of many things, she loved antique shopping and enjoyed setting up her vendor table at Singerly Fire Company’s Flea Market. She also enjoyed bowling and golf.

Mary Lou is survived by her children: Sandra Patterson and her husband, Wayne, Sharon Horton, Sheila Baird, Joseph Walls and his companion, Judy; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren with one on the way; 3 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Rose Dill. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, James Walls, Sr.; son, James Walls, Jr.; brother, Arthur Fox; son-in-law, James Horton; great grandson, Jacob Lane; and grandson-in-law, Jay Liesener.

A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where family and friends may start visiting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held immediately after at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Faithful Friends” or “Singerly Fire Company” and send in care of the funeral home.
