Mary Elizabeth Reider

Mary Elizabeth (Shumaker) Reider, 86, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 after a short illness.

Born October 17, 1928 in Ashe County, NC, Mrs. Reider was the daughter of the late Rod & Nell (Blevins) Shumaker. She co-owned and helped operate Reider’s Garage for over 55 years before retiring. Mrs. Reider enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, community, and her pets, whom she loved dearly. She will be missed by all.

Mrs. Reider is survived by her two sons, Rodney Reider (Nancy Denny) of Florida and Victor Reider (Rose Perkins) of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Mary Beth Malin of North East, MD; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilbur Reider; son, Harry Reider; and sisters, Pauline Barnes and Iona Harrill.

There will be no viewing or service per Mrs. Reider’s wishes. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
