Marion Lorraine Lockerman, age 89, of Newark, DE passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marion was born on August 2, 1932 in Wilmington, DE to the late Charles and Katherine (Hlywak) Kasowski. After graduating in 1949 from P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, DE, she attended University of Delaware on a scholarship. In 1953, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology and was certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She married her college sweetheart Leon Lockerman on July 11, 1953. Marion worked at Delaware Hospital (now Wilmington Hospital) and joined the DuPont Co Medical Dept. in 1973 while raising 4 children. In 1992, she retired from DuPont’s Epidemiology Dept.
Marion lived a life of service by volunteering and donating to the causes most important to her. She was a charter and lifetime member of Newark Historical Society, emeritus member of the Christiana Hospital Junior Board, volunteer and board member (3 years) of Tri-State Bird Rescue, Newark Country Club member since 1970, Newark United Methodist Church member and volunteer. Marion enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing golf, bridge, or mahjong.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Karen Pepper(Tom) of Seaford, DE; son, Gary Lockerman (Teresa) of Millsboro, DE; son-in-law, Tom Andersen(Christy) of Morristown, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Michelle Pepper(David Nelson) of Seaford, DE, Beverly Pepper of Delta, PA, Anna Davis(Gus) of Delmar, DE, Ben Andersen(Becca) of Philadelphia, PA, Paul Andersen of Philadelphia, PA; 3 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Marvin and Allison Davis; 4 nieces,1 nephew and 1 aunt. Marion is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Lockerman; daughters: Leslie Andersen, Diane Lockerman; brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Michele (Sue) Kasowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob Lockerman(Ginny), Vaughn Lockerman(Hanna)(Shirley).

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may start visiting at 10am. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
