Mabel R. Park of Elkton, MD, formerly of Clarksburg, MD, age 84, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. She was born in Wilmington, DE on August 23, 1932 to the late Robert F. Reed and Mabel (Alexander) Reed.
Mabel was a loving matriarch of the family. She was an incredible care giver and was like a mother and grandmother to all. Mabel enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening and was an excellent cook. She was a member of the Pentalpha No. 38 chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mabel is survived by two daughters: Nancy Jane Smith and her husband, Tom Motz of Newark, DE, and Allison Mackenzie Trifari and her husband, John of Manchester, CT; grandson, David Mackenzie Motz, of Elkton, MD; those that knew Mabel lovingly as “Auntie Babe”, nephew, Rodney Correll; two nieces: Robin Correll Griffin and her husband, John and Laurie Correll Riley and her husband, Greg; two great-nieces, Angela Wagner and her husband, Ryan and Emma Riley; and six great-nephews: Tim Correll and wife, Lesley, Cody Rohm, Kevin Griffin, Brian Griffin, Andrew Griffin and Justin Riley.
In addition to her parents, Mabel is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Robert Park, who died in 2009, her son, John Robert Park, her sister, Laura Jane Correll, brother-in-law Richard Correll, nephew Richard Correll and great-niece Amy Correll.
A funeral service in Mabel’s honor will be held at 2PM on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 1PM. Burial will follow at Newark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Shriners Hospitals for Children” and sent in care of the funeral home.
