Lillian B. Whetsell, 86, of Newark, DE, passed away December 8, 2011 at Newark Manor.
Born in Clifford, ND, Lillian was the daughter of the late Peter and Caspera Olsen Johnson and one of eight children. She was a homemaker. She and her family lived in several states before settling in Delaware. She taught piano in her home for 47 years and was devoted to her family. The family wishes to thank the nurses and all the staff at Newark Manor for their loving care of Lillian. They also want to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their care of Lillian as well.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jake Whetsell of Newark, a son Charles Whetsell and his wife Mary of Birmingham, AL; two daughters, Mary Harmon and her husband Jack of Louisburg, NC and Carol Allmond of Newark; three grandchildren, Desiree Shumsky, Matthew and William Allmond; 3 great grandchildren and two sisters, Ethel Smith of Paige, ND and Kathleen LoPresti of Mission Viejo, CA. She was preceded in death by five of her siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 14, 2011 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 where friends may call beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
