Larry Dale Wiley, 81, of Colora, MD, passed away January 13, 2023. He was born in Marietta, Ohio on November 12, 1941, the son of the late Elbert Bryson Wiley and Grace Mae (King) Wiley.
Before he retired, Larry worked at Ogden Martin (Lancaster Incinerator) but in his younger years he worked as a Master Tree Surgeon for Hinkle and McCoy and Lawrence Lumber Companies. In his prime, it was said that he could climb trees as easily as a squirrel. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman who also loved tinkering with old cars. He had a playful sense of humor but could be ornery at times. Spending time with his family and grandchildren brought him the greatest joy and biggest smiles. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his late wife of 24 years, Ora “Lee” Wiley, who passed in 2010, and his son, Glenn William Wiley, who passed in 1995.
Larry is survived by his three daughters: Teresa Griffey, Eva Ferguson and Vickie McConnell with whom he lived for the past year; 8 grandchildren: Chrystal Bauman, Wesley Haynie, William “Dale” Wiley, Ashely Wiley, Andrew Barton, Corey Barton, Eric Barton and Edward “Lee” McConnell Jr. and 16 great-grandchildren and his wife, Dorothy Wiley.
A celebration of Larry’s’ life will be held at a later date. Due notice will be given. Please check this website for service updates.
