Kay Sierer Hill

April 16, 1949 - April 17, 2021

Kay Sierer Hill of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021, one day after her 72nd birthday of April 16.

Throughout a long and valiant battle against a number of difficult health issues, Kay’s grace, wit, and infectious personality continued to shine.

Kay was the daughter of the late Harry Donald Sierer, and his wife, Jean (Burns) Sierer.

Kay attended, and graduated from The Tatnall School, but her love for the school didn’t stop at graduation. After 4 years away, and graduation from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, she returned to the Wilmington area and remained active in all facets of Tatnall’s Alumni Association: Alumni Council President, Class Agent, Homecoming Chairman, and many other untitled positions. Her dedication, and hard work over the years, was rewarded in 2011 when she received the schools revered “Alumni Service Award”.

As a professional, Kay was a “Corporate Travel Manager and Meeting Planner” for an international insurance company. She enjoyed needlework, and a good book. She loved world travel, and the beach at Ocean City, NJ. She loved the arts: opera, classical music, and the theater. And she absolutely adored her 3 grandchildren: Leo, Jaxon, and Grayce.

Kay is survived by her husband of 34 years, Richard Hill; 4 children: Jennifer Johnson (David Hammerer), Tori Santilli (John); Megan Hill, and Geoffrey Hill (Yasmin Cohen); and 1 brother, Donny Sierer (Peggy).

Services for Kay will be held privately, and at the convenience of the family. A celebration of her life is being planned and will be held as COVID 19 restrictions are eased. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “The Myocitis Association” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.

Dear Rich, Jenny, Tori, Megan, Geoffrey, Don and all family members -

Mike and I were so sorry to hear of Kay’s/your Mom’s death. We will always remember her as a good friend which stretched from when we were neighbors on Shallcross to Ocean City, NJ. Even though we hadn’t had a chance to get together in recent years, we have many fond memories.

A shadow crossed my heart when I heard of Kay's passing. She always had a big smile each time I went to see her in her office for travel arrangements at NEIL. Such a pleasant person to work with. My deepest condolences go out to her friends and family. Keep her in your memories - I'm sure there are countless good ones.

I gave Rich one of those little stuffed cows from Chick-fil-a to take home to Kay and she sent me the nicest hand written thank you card. Seems she loved even the smallest things. Rest in peace Kay.
