Joseph Edward Johnson, age 81, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was born in Rising Sun, MD on September 8, 1935 to the late Joseph and Ruth Johnson.
Being a lifetime member of the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, MD, Edward lived and breathed for the fire company and could often be found driving both ambulances and fire trucks. He played softball for many years with multiple Fire Company and Church Leagues. Edward thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved watching his favorite baseball team – the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy E. Johnson; son, Paul Johnson and his wife, Judy; two granddaughters: Sherry Carr and her husband, James; Shannon Baruka and her husband, Adam; six great grandchildren: Timmy, Chase, Alyssa, Taylor, Nicholas and Carlee; and brother, Donald Johnson and his wife, Dorothy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Russell Johnson.
A funeral service in Edward’s honor will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S Queen St, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be payable to the “Community Fire Company of Rising Sun” and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
