John Nelson Spinks

September 28, 1947 - November 17, 2011

John Nelson Spinks, son of the late Viola and Nelson Spinks, age 64, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home.

John is a veteran of the US Air Force and after 33 years, he retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Canteen. John was very well known and loved after many years of hard dedication as a bartender in Cecil County.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Marie Spinks; sister, Linda Helms of FL; daughter, Jackie McPherson of AR; son, Jason Spinks of FL; daughter, Jesse Spinks of Elkton, MD; granddaughter, Heather McPherson of AR; great grandson, Zayden McPherson of AR, step children, Karen Bibey of MD and Heather Jones of DE; and step grandchildren, Haley Bibey of MD, Paul Michael Jones Jr. of DE, and Matthew Garick Jr. of MD.

A service honoring John’s life will be held at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. (formerly Gee Funeral Home), 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where friends and family may call from 6 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home.
